TOP TEN EXCUSES FOR FALLING ASLEEP AT YOUR DESK

Filed under: News Headlines and other Kewl Stuff — DK @ 11:47 am

1 “They told me at the blood bank this might happen.”
2 “I wasn’t sleeping, I was trying to pick up contact lens without hands.”
3 “I wasn’t sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new paradigm!”
4 “Amen”
5 “This is just a 15 minute power-nap like they raved about in the last time management course you sent me to.”
6 “Whew! Guess I left the top off the liquid paper”
7 “I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work related stress.”
8 “This is one of the seven habits of highly effective people!”
9 “Boy, that cold medicine I took last night just won’t wear off!”
10 “Darn! Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution to our biggest problem.”

Celebration

Filed under: News Headlines and other Kewl Stuff — DK @ 7:06 pm

In Canada, the celebration of Victoria Day (Fete de la Reine in French) unofficially marks the beginning of the summer season and occurs every year on a Monday, prior to May 25th .  A.K.A. May 2 4 became a national holiday in 1901 and was first established in Canada West in 1845 to officially celebrate the birthdays of both Queen Victoria and the current reigning Canadian sovereign (Queen Elizabeth 11). Many Canadians will be celebrating across the country and in the honour of celebration I bring you this poem for all those celebrating on the green…

Golf Poem

In My Hand I Hold A Ball,
White And Dimpled, Rather Small.
Oh, How Bland It Does Appear,
This Harmless Looking Little Sphere.
By Its Size I Could Not Guess,
The Awesome Strength It Does Possess.
But Since I Fell Beneath Its Spell,
I’ve Wandered Through The Fires Of Hell.
My Life Has Not Been Quite The Same,
Since I Chose To Play This Stupid Game.
It Rules My Mind For Hours On End,
A Fortune It Has Made Me Spend.

It Has Made Me Yell, Curse And Cry,
I Hate Myself And Want To Die.
It Promises A Thing Called Par,
If I Can Hit It Straight And Far.

To Master Such A Tiny Ball,
Should Not Be Very Hard At All.
But My Desires The Ball Refuses,
And Does Exactly As It Chooses.

It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies,
And Even Disappears Before My Eyes.
Often It Will Have A Whim,
To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim.

With Miles Of Grass On Which To Land,
It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand.
Then Has Me Offering Up My Soul,
If Only It Would Find The Hole.

It’s Made Me Whimper Like A Pup,
And Swear That I Will Give It Up.
And Take To Drink To Ease My Sorrow,
But The Ball Knows … I’ll Be Back Tomorrow.

Stand proud you noble swingers of clubs  and losers of  balls….

A recent study found the average golfer  walks about 900 miles a  year. Another study found golfers drink, on  average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year.

That means, on average, golfers get about  41 miles to the gallon.

Kind of makes you proud.    Almost feel like a hybrid.
