My Baby’s Got A Secret…

Filed under: Noisiness. — Nikki @ 5:16 pm

“(PostSecret ( http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ ) is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.)” Sounds simple enough right? Frank Warren, the site’s creator, has started something big. Each postcard is a work of art. Each illustrating the secret it depicts. Some are funny — one, covered in Post-Its, message notes and paperclips states “I waste office supplies because I hate my boss”—some are sad — another, with a photo of a real arm next to a photo of a prosthetic one, reads “I smile sweetly and pretend to sympathize with my friends who are always fighting with their mothers.  I would give my left arm just to have my mother alive to fight with.”

There are also a couple of points to keep in mind about the website. PostSecret is the largest advertisement free blog on the web. PostSecret is also requesting from readers that the secrets be MAILED on a homemade postcard. In a time of instant emails and the World Wide Web this is a refreshing break to the norm. Although there is a feature on the site (PostSecret Community) which allows readers to upload a secret voice recording, the meat and potatoes of the site is still the mailed in secrets. There are also PostSecret books and sold out speaking events. It seems everyone has a secret, and everyone needs to share.

Soda-Licious?

Filed under: Noisiness. — Nikki @ 1:12 am

Jones Soda Co http://www.jonessoda.com/ has been recognised and lauded for its unique approach to marketing soft drinks. The lable is ever-changing (generated and submitted by consumers) and their distribution started in tattoo parlors and skate shops. Now it seems they are again pushing the proverbial envelope with the release of a “Christmas Pack” and a “Chanukah Pack”. It seems like a good idea on the exterior but a closer look allows you to see the new holiday flavours. The available combo pack will allow you to try such gems as Christmas Ham Soda, Egg Nog Soda, Latke Soda and Apple Sauce Soda, among others.

They say that variety is the spice of life. I can’t even try to imagine how a Christmas Ham Flavoured Drink could be found even remotely refreshing or delicious. That said, holiday shoppers will be hard pressed to find anything quite as edgy or unique to surprise loved ones this year!
